General information

Announcement: This website was newly established on July 2, 1998. Most of the information we displayed were based on what we did in the past 7 years, since curator, Chi-Guang Wu was graduated from University of Florida and came back to Taiwan in 1991. As soon as the website was completed, we emailed to most of our friends all over the world about the address of this new website and asked for their comments. We appreciated their prompt response especially from a country far away from Taiwan, such as from France, USA, and Japan etc.

Dr. Joseph Morton emailed back to me a few days ago, after he accessed this website . He would like me to make a careful announcement about the contents that we showed on website. Since some of the information was not yet published and they might still be questionable, such as the new genus, Jimtrappea and its phylogenetic connection. Jimtrappea was proposed three years ago, when Chi-Guang Wu first described at the MSA annual meeting in San Diego, California in 1995.  At that time, the genus was named as Trappea. However, Trappea was already coined for a truffle genus. In the next year, Jimtrappea, after a slight revision, was proposed again at the ICOM1, in Berkeley, California in 1996. The weakest point for Jimtrappea, the reason that it could not be well accepted, was because it could not be pure cultured yet, even though it could be retrived frequently at original collection area, at different sites, seasons, and years. The sporogenesis of this genus was very unique and we knew it was in a strong base to be erected as a new genus. Nevertheless, without enough data from pot culture, we still hold this manuscript.

In this website, we tried to exhibit most of our data which was already reviewed and published in primary literatures. However, the main purpose for the establishment of this website was to exchange informations and understand what we are doing mutually. To brag of what we are doing is not our intent and we all know that it is impossible to make it through this website. Once again, we remind all of the web readers to criticize what we showed and all of the information is only for your reference.
