As a branch of Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, it is dedicated to the conservation and research of tropical and subtropical crops. Its R&D activities include establishment of healthy seedling production system, nationwide evaluation of rice varieties resistant to rice blast and brown planthopper, extension and training for farmers, disease and insect diagnostic and control services, etc.
