Soil Physics Laboratory
This lab engages in the study on the interaction of chemical, biological, and environmental factors in soil; spatial movement of water, air, heat and solute in soil; soil water storage and availability to plants; internal drainage and redistribution following irrigation; tillage and soil structure management; management of soil aeration; uptake of soil moisture by plants; water balance of the root zone; etc. And the outputs have been applied to the improvement of soil physical fertility management; development of tillage technology conducive to sustainable land management; improvement of drainage and irrigation technologies; development of dynamic variable models of water, air, heat and solute in soil, and their monitoring and moderation technologies; alteration of soil temperature through tillage and residue management; and improvement of crop water use efficiency.
