The variety features good plant type, excellent grain appearance and quality, low pre-harvest sprouting score, tolerant to rice blast, and tolerant to cold from seedling stage to heading stage. These traits make it low risk and high profits from low inputs of pesticides for the first crop season in Taiwan when the East Asian rainy season prevails from late spring to early summer. But it is not tolerant to sheath blight, bacterial leaf blight, brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper and small brown planthopper, thus requires appropriate protection measures during cultivation.
