Author:Shou-Horng Huang, Po-Yu Lai,*, and Tai-Chuan Wang,*
Abstract:
Rice is the staple crop in Taiwan, and the safe production of rice is crucial for the well-being of its people and national security. Establishing the rice pest checklist is important to provide information for pest ecology and management tactics. The recorded number of rice insect pests has varied from 59 to 111 species. After the revision, there were 107 species of insects and 1 species of mite currently, and 34 species, such as short-horned grasshopper (Heteropternis respondens (Walker, 1859)), were considered as dubious and excluded in the present checklist.
