Abstract:
The width, thickness, and length of capsule showed sigmoid development in a medicinal orchid Dendrobium moniliforme (L.) Sweet. The most rapid growth of capsule was 1~2 weeks after pollination. The width, thickness, and length reached maximum in 3rd, 8th, and 9th week, respectively. The optimum timing for self-pollination was 2~7 days after flowering, but it only achieved 10% fruit set. The optimal cross-pollination was 1~5 days after flowering (DAF) and the fruit set varied between 30% to 100%.
Key words:Artificial self-pollination, Artificial cross-pollination, Dendrobium moniliforme (L.) weet, Fruit growth, Sigmoid development
