Abstract:
Chempedak (Artocarpus chempeden) is a newly emerging fruit crop in Taiwan. However, few reports are available about its cultivation and production in Taiwan. In this study, results revealed that fruit development of Chempedak displayed a sigmoid fashion. By analyzing absolute growth rate (AGR) and relative growth rate (RGR) during fruit development period, it was evident that fruit development curve changed significantly at 27, 55 and 83 days after flowering (DAF). Seed and peel appeared at 27 DAF, aril emerged at 55 DAF, and no significant anatomical changes in chempedak fruit at 83 DAF. Fruit were mature and soften for harvest at 104 DAF. Accordingly, results suggest that there exist differences in developmental stages during fruit growth which interact each other along the development.
