Abstract:
The genetic relationships among 29 peach cultivars were analyzed by using RAPD technology. A total of 220 primers were screened for their ability to produce strongly amplified products. Out of 35 primers amplified 305 DNA bands, 229 of which were polymorphic (75.1%). A dendrogram based on the UPGMA cluster analysis was constructed. All tested peach cultivars were divided into seven groups which were Brazilian peach group, American peach group, south China peach group, central China and Japan peach group, dwarf peach group, Li Ho Wan Tao group and Chi Chen Tao group. The results indicated Japan peach varieties may originate from central China. Flordabelle and Flordagrande had 96% similarity indexes, indicating the closest genetic relationship. Otherwise, Chi Chen Tao having 73% similarity indexes showed the farest genetic relationship with other tested peach varieties.
