Abstract:

Five Taiwan persimmon cultivars and 12 foreign persimmon cultivars were evaluated at TARI. Growth habits and fruit characteristics were tested including budbreak、blooming date、ripening date、fruit weight、fruit length、fruit width、fruit shape、fruit color、total soluble solids and fruit development period. The date of budbreak and blooming of Taiwan persimmon is earlier and more uniform than Japanese persimmon cultivars. The ripening date of ‘Nishimura wase’, FDP only 120 days, is earliest one than other cultivars, and FDP of the rest cultivans are counted from 152 to 202 days. Most of Japanese persimmon, were tasted much more fiber and smaller size under the growth condition of TARI. These cultivars are not able to cultivate very well in lowland area.
