Flower, leaf and tree characteristics of nectarines for trial in central Taiwan

Abstract:

    Twenty-seven low-chill nectarine cultivars were evaluated in 1996 and 1997 in Rona fruit germplasm repository (850M ele.). 11 nectarine cultivars and clonal selections shows no fruit cracking characteristic which were very serious in early introduced nectarine cultivars during past 40 years for trial in Taiwan climate condition. Sunblaze, 5-40N, 90-50CN having good fruit size and excellent favor show high potential for successful commercial production from late April through middle May before rain season beginning at low land area in Taiwan.
