Variety Characteristics

    The characteristic of ‘Tainung 4’ are large fruit size with strong fruit rib, long shelf-life (>1 week at room temperature), and low fruit-rot rate. Carambola variety ‘Tainung 4’ has higher ratio of fruit-setting. Also, fruits of ‘Tainung 4’ are less sensitive to chilling injury caused by low temperature decreasing the likelihood of fruit-browning during chilly winter periods.
